Homeowners in Tampa, Riverview, Brandon, Plant City and the rest of Hillsborough County, plus south Lakeland and Mulberry in Polk County, call Tampa Roofing Guys about leaks, storm damage and roofs that are due. Describe what you’re seeing, and a licensed local roofer comes out to look, whether the job turns out to be a repair, a full re-roof, a new roof on an addition or the inspection your insurer is asking for.

From your call to the roof

4 steps, and who does each one

The roofing itself is done by our licensed and insured partners in Hillsborough County and nearby Polk County. Tampa Roofing Guys answers the phone; we don’t climb roofs, quote jobs or send the bill.

  1. You ring and describe the roof

What it’s doing (a drip, missing shingles, an insurance letter) and where the house is.

  2. A licensed local roofer comes out

Someone who works your part of the county looks at the roof, or calls back first to set a time.

  3. You get their price first

The roofer’s price comes in writing, and nothing starts until you’ve agreed to it.

  4. They do the work and bill you

You pay the roofing company directly. Ringing us costs you nothing.

4 roof types you’ll see across Tampa Bay

Asphalt shingles, concrete and clay tile, metal panels and flat or low-slope sections each fail in their own way, so the first thing a roofer wants to know is which one you have. A lot of calls start with a letter from the insurance company rather than a drip from the ceiling. Either way, the first two questions are the same: what is the roof doing, and when did it last get a full re-roof permit?

Why Tampa roofs wear out

3 things that wear out a Tampa roof

Heat and UV slowly cook asphalt shingles until they shed granules and curl. Wind-driven rain from summer storms finds lifted shingles, worn pipe boots and tired flashing. Every few years a named storm tests the whole roof, and roofs built to older code don’t always pass. Then the insurer asks how old it is.

4 short answers

How much does a new roof cost in Tampa?

Two houses on the same street can be thousands apart. Roof area in squares, steepness, the number of old layers, rotten sheets found under them and the material all move the price. The cost guide shows how to read a quote and where published regional figures land.

Do I need a permit to repair my roof?

For anything bigger than a small patch, plan on one. Small repairs can be exempt, but the cutoffs differ between the City of Tampa, the County and the other cities, and a full re-roof needs one. The office that issues it follows your parcel, so check by street address.

Will my insurance pay for a new roof?

Insurance pays for sudden damage it covers, like wind from a storm, minus your deductible. An old roof wearing out on its own is a maintenance cost. Whether the money comes in one check or two depends on how your policy values the roof, so look at the declarations page early.

How long does a shingle roof last in Tampa?

Usually less time than the warranty suggests. Florida heat, sun and storms age shingles faster than milder climates do. The permit record shows the year the roof actually went on, and that date is what insurers go by.
